How do I apply?

Super Seconds maker spots will be offered via an application process.

This is to ensure an even spread of types of makers to give buyers the widest variety to buy from and to ensure a stress free process for makers as you will have 3 weeks to apply. Applications will stay open until midnight on Thursday 10th April.

If we get over 250 applications we won’t be able to offer everyone a spot as there are up 250 maker spots available – please don’t be disheartened if you don’t get in this time, there will be other opportunities to get involved in the future!

Please note that you must have an online shop to sell through the Festival – e.g. Your own website, Etsy, Folksy, etc. If you don’t have a shop, your application will be automatically rejected.

The community is above and beyond the best part of the festival for me. The sales are a very happy bonus of course, but the connections I’ve made by taking part a few times now are priceless.

HOW MUCH IS IT TO TAKE PART?

There is a £42 joining fee* to get involved as a maker – for the joining fee you’ll get lots of benefits.

There is an option to boost your application for an extra £25 – this includes access to an exclusive guided peer support group to help develop your business and get valuable feedback, a collaborative grid post and be included on the printed flyer (2500 copies printed and distributed around the UK).

*This £42 is only paid if you are one of the makers taking part.

ELIGIBILITY

Super Seconds Festival is for independent businesses who make/design their own work. This is the perfect opportunity to sell off seconds, samples, misprints and old stock – the only stipulation to get involved is that you’re an indie business owner who designs/makes their own work and that you can offer discounts!

It’s an online fair which is accessed through this website and makers will be listed by category; categories will include jewellery, ceramics & glass, prints, art & cards, kids stuff, wellbeing, health & self care, fabric goods, clothes, accessories, homeware and eco-friendly.

As a maker you’ll be able to choose 3 categories to be part of.

You will sell items through your own website to ensure that you get 100% of the sale.

It’s always really well organised and helps my business with a cash injection. It helps me to clear stagnant stock and reach new customers.

START UPS

This year we’ll be opening up a category of up to 25 makers especially for 16-25 year olds. It’s cheaper to take part (only £20!) and you’ll get two extra mentoring sessions from the organisers.

MAKER BENEFITS

Under several categories (e.g. jewellery, ceramics, prints and cards, etc.), you will have your own page that buyers can click through to to see photos, website links and links to your social media.

To support each other in the run up to the event – this is a great peer to peer network! This private group will include top tip videos/info and a space to ask as many questions as you like about Super Seconds Festival, and selling in general.

You will get virtual access to everything you need – from video guides, to Canva graphics, all in one handy place.

These workshops/panels will cover topics such as preparing your Instagram and website for the event, how to best promote yourself and how to make the most of Super Seconds Festival.

Included with your joining fee, this Festival’s topic is Wholesale selling with Therese Oertenblad from Small Business Collaborative. Previous topics have included SEO, Trend Spotting, Passive Income and Email Marketing. Makers have access to this full back catalogue.

Includes tips on selling platforms, pricing tips, brand trends and Instagram advice.

Invited to 4 x weekly co-working sessions to connect you with other makers.

Including opportunities to go live on Instagram.

Makers said it was the perfect testing bed for new ideas as they knew they had a space to sell experiments. 76% of makers at the last event said that they made more sales than they would normally make at an online marketplace event.

We collectively will use a hashtag to bring us together through an Instagram challenge.
